Brenda Benson, owner of Sonoma Scent StudioHi friends!  I was raised in a rural small town in Michigan, where being outdoors amongst the pine trees and my mother’s flower garden became some of my most favorite scent memories. In high school and college, I took chemistry courses, where I first learned the magic of mixing two materials together. I eventually moved to southern California, creating new memories with star jasmine, rose, wild bergamot, and so many other beautiful flowers ….and planting many pine and evergreen trees too.

Five years ago, I took my first perfumery class through The Institute for Art and Olfaction in Los Angeles, and as they say, the rest is history. I fell in love with creating scents! I immersed myself in perfumery workshops, devoured books on perfumery and have spent many hours experimenting with a variety of materials, including natural and mixed media. I have been blessed to continue my journey by studying with several very accomplished perfumers, both locally and nationally.

I am so grateful to Laurie Erickson, who started this phenomenal scent studio in 2004, and I look forward to continuing her legacy as an artisan perfumer.  My hope is that you will find many beautiful scents here – ones that are irresistible, impeccably handcrafted and create magical memories for you every time you wear them.
